Meetup with Nicholas

Heh heh~ This is different from his meetup with HH last Friday at Tampines whereby that one is HH wanted to meet Nicholas and this one is Nicholas wanted to meet PG and me. Hohoho~~~~

Yesterday morning did the usual housework, in addition, also tried to check what's wrong with that desktop. When the desktop displays 'Alert! Previous shutdown due to thermal event.' message, being optimistic myself, I thought it could be due to dust trapping the heat, thereby prevented it to be dissipated away. Opened up the case and tried to vacuum any visible dust. Then switched on again, the computer went auto shutdown after some 20 mins(?). This time round I'm pretty much convinced that the computer almost ki-chia liao...

Time to buy a new computer. But no mood leh~

By the time I finished everything it was almost 11 am liao. Of course I was late quite a bit although Nicholas did push back the timing by 15-20 mins. But still, he's faster than me! Arghhh! The things weren't helping - 김대문 was closed for that day! Aigoo... In the end, lunch was settled at a place much more further up - Tampopo @ Takashimaya coz

1. Not many Korean restaurant or eatery place nearby
2. Nicholas mind Japanese food (probably already eaten a lot with HH @ Sushi Tei) but doesn't mind ramen aiyoyo

He had Hakodate original ramen ($14.80) from Hokkaido and I 細膩品嚐 the Kyushu original ramen ($13.50). Had a good chat over lunch while PG sagged (yes, it's past tense because he sag for real!~) and thinking how to appear at Choo Choo Chicken at 6 pm later. (More on this later lol)

Damage: $15.95 (Total $35.45)

Then went Uniqlo @ 313 to look for CNY clothes. *The checkered one I wanted to buy wasn't there!* But I do want to buy their plain T-shirt. At $7.90, it's a real steal. It would be the third T-shirt I got from them liao coz it's quite comfortable when wearing it and the plain design goes with almost any jeans/pants/shorts and shoes. Very versatile.

Without buying anything, we left the shop and paid a visit to Cotton On at Level 1. A surprise - that outlet has 2 stories! Didn't know they shifted the male section to basement. But anyway, nothing much there except for those plain T-shirt which I think Uniqlo has better quality - it's a bit thicker and doesn't seem will ki-chia after a few washes.

Next, Nicholas wanted to buy 貢茶 at Orchard Central. 印像中底層好像真的有此店 but we didn't see any when we roamed around that area. Googled for info and saw that the outlet was closed down. Aigoo.. When no students come and support, business quite bad on weekday afternoon ds.

Without any disappointment (yeah, really nothing to sag about this), we walked back to Plaza Sing. There he bought 烏龍奶茶 and I swept one demin slim-fit shirt ($29.90) and a dark grey T-shirt ($7.90). Was quite tempted to buy their long-sleeved or 3/4 sleeved T-shirt but I'm KIV-ing that as future possible purchases. Wanted to get a slim-fit dark coloured jeans for myself but the price tag of $59.90 on Uniqlo jeans put me off liao. Again, also put that on hold.

Uniqlo

Damage: $37.80

Nicholas commented that the green and maroon shirt which I set my eyes on at Lowrys Farm are a bit thick for local hot weather so he wouldn't suggest me to buy. On second thought, if only they could make it thinner and more comfortable to wear, I really could have bought it!

Then I on tour-guide mode and accompanied Nicholas (who was on tourist mode from now on) walked to City Hall to let him see for himself how much had changed to Citylink, Marina Square and Suntec City. Went People of Asia (POA) shop () as recommended by Nicholas. Although really liked the shirts displayed there (very very Korean style), but the price tag $89 is too OMG for me to handle.

Anyway didn't buy anything we walked towards Suntec City where Nicholas got more WOW lol. At Suntec, we visited Uniqlo again, H&M and Lowrys Farm. I suspect Uniqlo changed the season after new year, the shirt I wanted to get was removed from shelves! Again, nothing at H&M caught my eyes, but did tryout some new ways of dressing myself as taught by Nicholas. Not bad. *Need to get one white plain T-shirt for myself!*

After that we changed some RM and Nicholas went to buy his contact lens stuff. Toured one round at the basement restaurants/cafes leve before we made our way to Choo Choo 츄츄 Chicken!!

Got attracted by Lotte Mart and shrieked inside the shop because I saw the instant noodle I want. But $8.20 was jinja expensive and also saw melon version of Pepero going for $1.50! Eeeeekkkk! Too ex for me, so left the shop empty handed. LOL~

What is Choo Choo 츄츄 Chicken? Why must die die visit it when there were cafes around that area or even restaurants at Bugis Junction?

대박!

First of all, Choo Choo 츄츄 Chicken is a Korean casual restaurant specialising in Korean fried chicken and some other kinda small food stuff. Secondly, it's opened by our very own Korean language 선생님 - Sia! Very delighted when we know her whereabouts liao! 1.5 years didn't see her liao leh. Haha~ In fact, I already started noticing this restaurant since last year. Last week during outing with Jordan, I even highlight it to PG as we walked past the yet-to-open restaurant but he 不以為然... This aside, I did have some questions for myself - why Sia not teaching Korean language anymore? Why set up business in SG and sell Korean food? Is she really love SG so that she's staying or even settling down here for good?

Both of us reached Choo Choo 츄츄 Chicken first - PG was nearby crossing road. We were discussing whether to enter the restaurant or not - what if we entered liao and realised Sia wasn't there? As we were standing just outiside the restaurant, we caught that waitress's attention who came towards the door and asked us to go in. Anyway, we also craving for some Korean and fried stuff so even if Sia wasn't around (would be quite a big disappointment), we would still order food.

The restaurant isn't big - due to the space limitation set up by those old-style shophouses. Seats were rather crampy and the whole place could only hold up to 18 persons at any one time. Just when I thought it's dinner time, the restaurant only had 3 of us as customers. Maybe it's new and people aren't aware of it... Free sitting is quite yang~

While looking at menu, suddenly Sia appeared at cashier counter! ^_^ At first she thought it's just normal customers but after a few seconds when she realised it's us - her former students, she was totally shocked! Bet the waitress also don't know what's going on because she didn't know what are we related to Sia.

Their outfits followed Running Man style where '츄츄치킨' was 'velcro-ed' onto the back of the shirt.

Sia came over and asked us how we came here. I replied her it's through internet! Aigoo, nowadays the power of social media cannot be underestimated hor!

Anyway, the trio of us were thinking of having a whole chicken for dinner. Asked the waitress for fried chicken recommendations. Wanted spicy but don't know how spicy it can be ever since that Hongdae incident. *Almost died after eating their fried chicken there* She suggested soy and sweet ($28) for us as according to her, spicy is JINJA REAL SPICY!

So in the end, we went with her suggestion and ordered a choo choo cham chi rice burger ($5.90). Cham chi or 참치 in Hangeul simply means tuna fish. As Sia was the chef for the restaurant, she couldn't really sit down and chatted with us. But instead from time to time she appeared and asked if the food was nice and requested us to eat more.

For the food. First it was the tteokbokki to get served, it's quite nice - not too spicy. Then came the rice burger - very unique. The tuna and kimchi went well together, but I thought the rice could be more sticky so that it won't go scattered everywhere when the fork pierces through it. Next the normal fried chicken wings/drumsticks were served which the waitress said it's free. This was quite unexpected because we were there to give our most heartiest support to Sia.

Then the soy and lastly the sweet fried chicken. There wasn't any difference for soy and normal ones, but once the meat is bitten, the 醬汁 all oozed out. As for sweet one, the red colour sauce coating made it look quite different from the usual golden colour. After the first bite, the sweetness came first then the spiciness. It wasn't very spicy until all of us gave up or S.O.S. While on the outside, I may eat the sweet chicken deliciously, but inside heart, I'm ALREADY JUMPING AROUND HAPPILY AND YANGLY! *Shrieking in high pitch!!!* Both 진짜 맛있어요! My fav is the sweet one, just because it looked attractive and was spicy!

Suddenly, Sia decided to treat us drinks Asked us to pick from the fridge. Some of them were local drinks one and I didn't want. Of course I picked three Korean canned drinks yang dg~ The apple juice I had (supposedly shared between us ds) was quite refreshing.

Initially Sia didn't want to take pictures with us which was a bit of disappintment. 毒到她, pushed the guys or the waitress to take pictures with us when we only wanted to take with her ds. Heng, the waitress also didn't want to take pictures. Maybe she wasn't prepared by wearing pretty and putting make-up(?). But at the end, she gave in because Nicholas brought the Polaroid camera! ^^ One for Sia and one for Nicholas. Sia liked it so much that immediately she put up the photo with the flowers at the cashier counter. :D

She was really a nice person where she gave us 4 pcs normal fried chicken, 3 cans of drinks and tteokbokki FOC! In fact that tteokbokki was free flow lo. HDG~ On top of that she also gave us 20% discount at the end of our meal! :) It makes me want to go back to restaurant if I have craving for Korean fried chicken (well there isn't many such places around in SG). More importantly, makes me want to go Korea again!

Damage: $0 (Total $27.10 after 20% discount from original cost $33.90) Thanks PG!

Towards the end of our meal, 4 local guys came in and also had fried chicken as well. Somehow they were related to one of the local male helpers there, so I guessed they were there to give support as well. And one of them photobombed in our group shot with Sia. Luckily it's only hand and was a victory sign. Hohoho~

So the restaurant has 4 people managing it, 2 local males and 2 Korean females. Sia is the cook and the other girl is the waitress. The male helpers could be 合股股東 with Sia or really Kitchen helpers or serves as the contact point between other outside matters and the shop since Sia and the Korean girl may not know SG law and regulations well. Coz I saw one of them talking to dunno-is-it-supplier-or-landlord.

What is your working title?

The last destination was Working Title cafe @ Arab Street, just behind Choo Choo Chicken. Ambience quite cosy. A plus point is that there was free WiFi, so bringing iPad, laptop there to surf net and chill sure is a great idea. Sag when no more ice cream sandwich available (stock will only come in the next day). A cup of hot cafe mocha ($5.50) and a salted caramel nutella tart ($7.50) were enough to keep us entertained for the remaining an hour or so. For the tart, couldn't tell a distinct salted caramel taste as the nutella was so overwhelming. Then sagged about the waiter who tripped and shook out some of the coffee of the cup. The latte cart didn't get ruined, did it?

Damage: $5 (Total $13)

Hearty chat about HH. Nicholas mentioned that as HH is now the CCA in-charge of the canoeing women team, the girls who are in the sensitive puberty stage asked him cheekily if he swims a lot because he has a broad shoulder. *OmgakkkkKK!* Being embarrassed, HH said he swam last time. *Jinja?! I wouldn't believe it. The only time you slimmed down not because you swam but tortured yourself by running 10 km daily and eating in an almost starving way so to avoid the obese version of BMT. Seriously, what's not so good about being in that? Training could be slightly more slack ds...*

Of course we know what's the real reason. Fit, gymming, exercising defnitely isn't the real answer. But close-to-zero exercise, eating fried stuff excessively and nobody-has-done-it-before pickily is. But at least, the girls have woke him up in some way and he's getting concerned about looking overweight when friends around him already cannot move him along from there liao.

As this job is keeping him occupied, he won't have time to think if I have a girlfriend nor asking us randomly out for dinner or movie nor being obsessive and possessive with Nicholas. Phew, what a relief!

Then taught Nicholas how to superimpose two images into one using PicsArt. It was first discovered by PG and ever since he super xyy over it. Now he wants to share with us this rather tedious process. Nonetheless, it enhances the overall feel of the food pictures with the shop logo on it. With the built-in stylus on hand, Nicholas is yang ds. Aigoo.
